Artist BIO
Rowland Perry Robinson
Color is an emotional language that the painter uses to communicate desire to the viewer and it must be felt on an intuitive emotional level to be appreciated. I have painted in oils and acrylics since I was young focusing largely on plein air impressionist landscapes. My main influences have been from the masters including the French impressionists Manet and Monet’s use of composition and color harmonies. The work has evolved into a more abstract overhead landscape style as if you were viewing fields and rivers at low altitude from a biplane. Abstract artist Influences include Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollok, Richard Diebenkorn, Syd Mead, and Ellsworth Kelly who gave me the idea of introducing complimentary color fields and styles on irregular shaped canvas. I was classically trained in 3D product design and sculpture at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California, the New School in New York early in my journey. My work Firenze has been featured on the cover of JAMA a medical publication.
