Artist BIO
Colleen Baxter
At an early age Colleen Baxter discovered her natural talent for drawing and soon began painting with watercolors, then oils and currently acrylics with landscapes being her favorite subject. “I can’t remember when I wasn’t aware of the colors in the landscapes around me. At almost every turn Nature gives you the perfect combination of light, color and shadow. I struggle to remember those moments for they will never come again and that inspires me to pick up a brush and paint.” Most recently she has been experimenting with mixed media/collage, completing a new series called “Whimsical Blooms” using the Gel Plate mono printing process. Her works have been and are being exhibited in various galleries and other venues in and around the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida areas. She is a current member of Studio 1212 Art Gallery and Creative Artists Guild both of Dunedin, Florida. Past Member of PAVA, Crystal Beach Artist Group and served on the Public Art Commission of Safety Harbor for 10 years. She has works in permanent collections in California, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, Philadelphia, France, Italy and Florida.
