Artist BIO

Emi Subotovsky

My love for art, began at a young age, however, the complexities of life led me to pursue a career in law. Upon retiring, my journey from the structured world of law to the expressive realm of abstract art, reflects a profound transformation in both, my career and my outlook on life.  For a long time,  I was immersed in the logical precision of the legal field, advocating within systems of rules and order. When I embraced art, later in life, it became a liberating counterbalance, a space where I can shed constraints and explore the unknown

My early works were deeply intuitive, driven by raw emotion and instinctual approach to color and form.  They were expressions of freedom, a departure from the rigidity that had shaped my professional life.  Over time, however, I began to seek order within the chaos I had created. The need for order and harmony re-emerged, and I turned to lines, rectangles and triangles to create a sense of structure and balance.   Geometry became my bridge, connecting spontaneity with intention, and chaos with order. This geometry, is not rigid, and it presents itself as a space of reflection for the viewers allowing them to find their own narratives in the nuances of the forms, lines and spaces.

Embracing art later in life is a testament to the idea that is never too late to begin to explore, or to pursue new endeavors.  My work reflects this belief: the beauty of transformation, the coexistence of intuition and discipline, and the boundless potential for reinvention at any stage of life.
